From counting the months, weeks, days to seconds…the day has finally come.  The nights prior didn’t help as the anxiety was hitting me from all corners.  The day has finally come…the day that my night will be EPIK and SLEEPLESS.
 
If you have been following my blog for a while now, you would have read a post that I made of Epik High before. I posted about them back in 2015 when I went to Dallas Texas for their concert. But for those who don’t know who Epik High is, here is a little recap below:
 
Epik High is a hip-hop group from Seoul. They have been in the industry since 2003 and their music is beyond diverse. You really cannot put Epik High in a category because these guys go beyond the expectation and there is no boundary to them.
 
Epik High consist of a TRIO:
Dj Tukutz: He is our amazing DJ and lead dancer of the group! LOL…this man got madd skillzzz!!!
Mithra: He is the shy maknae but don’t let that fool you. His voice and rap skills are a killer.
Tablo: Better known as “Haru Appa”, this man is the lyrical beast and genius. 

How can I explain Epik High to someone in words?  I really can’t. Epik High is one of my muses. When I am going through hard time or feel a lack of inspiration, Epik High gives it to me. Their music speaks beyond the words and melody…it speaks to my soul.
 
The connection between artists and fans can truly not be defined.  There is something magical…something so pure that ties them together.  The love that is between the artists and fans is out of this world. That love can make anyone sleepless.
 
The first stop of their tour was in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the First Avenue. The venue was packed, and the energy was crazy. The crowed that was around us was dope! The opening act of the show was an amazing rapper named “The Lioness”. Her skills were straight FIRE. She did a fantastic job of opening the concert and I am definitely looking forward to seeing more of her performances.
 
At about 7pm, the lights dimmed, the screens went up and the TRIO came on stage. Song after song, they put their entire heart and soul into it. They went beyond 100 on the show. They went straight 1 million into the show.  Everything about the show was crazy. I can’t even explain in words how the atmosphere was. I felt like we set the standards of the show high because the energy was nonstop on a level 10. I believe that we gave them such a good welcoming and I hope it set the vibe for the rest of the tour.

*NOTE: Before the performance, a fan in the front row fainted.  That moment was scary for everyone. Tablo was making a speech and he suddenly stopped and said, “oh my gosh, she fainted” and the trio jumped off the stage and ran towards the fan.  Security came and helped the girl. Everyone in the venue was shocked. When you are at these types of performance, we are not individuals but a family. I hope she is doing a lot better.

​Favorite song moments: The whole concert was my favorite part but there were two songs that were performed that totally hit me.
 
Fan – I never thought I will ever get to hear and see this live. The lyrics behind this song is WOW. If you have not heard of this song yet, I highly recommend it.  A song like this is not typical in the Korean industry so for Epik High to come out with such a song is magic.  I really don’t have the words to explain this song, so I am going to let the song speak for itself.
 
Bleed – One of my ultimate favorite songs. When I heard it, I felt like my world stopped.  When the song was completed, I let out a breath that I didn’t even realize that I was holding in. I was almost tearing up during this performance. Each verse pierced through my heart. I felt my heart ripping. 

Memorable moments:
Minnesota Fan Flag: When Tablo announced that “FAN” was going to be their last song, my friends and I was like this is the only chance we have so we threw the flag up on stage. The flag flew right in the middle and Tablo picked it up. We were screaming. The flag was a Minnesota flag and we had all the fans that were in line sign it for the boys.

My HIGH is what?? My High is EPIK!!!  This Hip-Hop Geniuses trio is known for their different styles of music that collaborates Hip Hop but takes it to a whole new level. Each member is unique and when combined together, their vibe and swag level is beyond the means of any human.  Together, this group calls themselves, EPIK HIGH.

The Maknae is known as Mithra:  He is a rap artist, songwriter and the baby of Epik High. He also does one hell of an “Aegyo”…so if you haven’t checked out those Aegyo clips yet, I highly suggest you do..LOL

Better known as “Haru Appa” is simply known on stage as Tablo:  He is a rapper, producer and lyrical beast!  He is one of my muses and I truly highly respect this man.

The line wasn’t too bad, there was about 200 M&G VIPS only but the Dallas heat was no joke. LOL…coming from MN, I was not used to that type of humidity and burning sun, but the wait was totally worth it. I was also able to finally meet some of my VIP fambams which was one of the big perks of going down to Dallas.  My girl and I started to wait in line around noon.  We were finally able to get inside the venue for the M&G around 6pm.   

As we entered the venue, Epik High has not entered yet but we were directed to pick up our merchandise that we had preordered.  From there, we waited in line for our turn to meet Epik High.  As we waited, the MC’s were trying to get the crowd up and hyped so we played a few games.  Suddenly they told us to start cheering for EPIK HIGH and boom, the trios entered the room and my world completely stopped!!! Seeing them in real life, so close and personal was something beyond words!!  

I remember Champa telling me that her heart was pounding so fast as it was getting closer and closer to our turn to meet them.  When meeting the group, you have to go up in a group of 3-5.  Since it was just my girl and I, we made some new friends while waiting in line and one of our new friends was paired up with us.  So us three got to meet the trio together.  When we got up to the front, the staff advised us of who we shall meet first and then trade places.  So Champa got DJ Tukutz, I got Tablo and our other girl got Mithra.  While we were standing in line, I was thinking of what the hell am I going to say to them when I get up there?  Each member is different and each one of them means something different to me.  So when it was finally our turn, I just turned my mind off and said what was in my heart.

It was so unreal when we shook hands and spoke.  Tablo is one of my muse so to finally meet him in person and speak to him, was….priceless.  What came out of my mouth to Tablo was a simple “THANK YOU”.   

Me: “Thank you for all that you do”
Tablo: “No, thank you for being a fan”
Me: “We came all the way from Minnesota to see you guys”
Tablo: “Minnesota?  We have an YG Staff who’s on tour with us from Minnesota too”

From here we exchange handshakes, smiles and laughter.  We all posed together and Tablo said “Let’s take a fucken EPIK photo”!  This was beyond a dream come true!! I’m still fangirling when I think of this! 

The concert was freaken AWESOME!! They have amazing fan service and you cannot help but DANCE to everything.  They did all the hit songs such as Born Hater, Rich, and one of my old favorites Fan.  They even did G-Dragon’s “Light it Up” while Tukutz danced to One of a Kind.  Tablo performed Eyes, Nose and Lips.  Everything about the show was EPIK! During the middle of the show, they even did a Q&A which was adorable.

That night…there was no you, me, him, her and them…there was just ONE.  We were all just one that night.  We were a group of people who loves music and together we combined ourselves to become one to embrace the beauty of music.  Music has no language and art can be spoken in different ways. 

This concert is definitely one that I would love to relive all over again.  The entire staff was amazing…the MC’s were hilarious, the environment was laid back and the friends that we had made will be lifetime.

My night was epik and the memories will forever stay with me.
